A Update from the Team Behind The Manjimup Bluesgrass & Old Time Music Weekend

22/7/2020

Latest news:
The Manjimup Bluegrass & Old Time Music Weekend, September 25-28th 2020.
  • Unfortunately, but not unexpectedly given the current situation with COVID19 in Victoria, we have postponed the visit by  Old Time musicians, Craig Woodward, Jeremy Marcotte and Thomas Kendall. As you can imagine they are very disappointed. We are hoping that this trio, whom I have dubbed The Victorians, can come to Western Australia to run an Old Time Music JamCamp in January 2021.
  • Bluegrass Parkway, considered to be the best bluegrass band in Australia, fortunately is based in Perth and is coming.  Like many of you, the band members are champing at the bit to get to Manjimup and play! They'll be here the whole weekend and as well as performing they will be joining in the music making and running  workshops.   We are so excited that they are coming to support the Manjimup weekend as Bluegrass Parkway is the band that featured at the very first Bluegrass event in 2012 Make Music @ Manjimup.
  • The Earls, also WA based and featuring Rod Vervest, Peter Grayling, Bob Lepinski will also be joining in the music making and adding their expertise to the workshops and jams.
  • There will be activities in the street on Saturday morning/early afternoon under Manjimup's new covered area in Brockman Street. And if you, or your offspring, are in to skateboarding or scootering (?) Manjimup has a fantastic skateboard park right in the centre of town!
  • If you haven't done so, I urge you book your accommodation right away!
  • 25-28th September is the first weekend of the school holidays, and, courtesy of interstate and overseas travel restrictions, West Australians are discovering that Manjimup is a great holiday destination.  Once word gets out about this music weekend, it will be an even more attractive place for the weekend!

The Kingsley Motel, and the Manjimup Backpackers have offered discounted rates for people coming for the music weekend. Details on the website www.manjimupbluegrass.com  - see accommodation in drop down menu under Home.

All the best,
Mary Nixon,
President,
Warren Arts Council,
Manjimup.
