  • Abilities Expo for school leavers expanded to include more than 90 disability organisations offering advice for all people with disability
The annual Abilities Expo, which showcases a range of career and life options for people with disability will this year offer an extended program and more exhibitors.

Originally aimed at school leavers, with support from the Liberal National Government the expo has this year been broadened to include more service providers for people with disability of all ages and to include an extra evening session.

Disability Services Minister Donna Faragher said she was pleased the program had been extended to cater for a broader audience and having so many exhibitors in one place would be an invaluable opportunity.

"There will be more than 90 exhibitors, interactive sessions and workshops, and presentations by people sharing their life or career stories," Mrs Faragher said.

"Visitors can meet service providers and learn about options ranging from jobs, training and education to accommodation and respite, therapy supports, recreation, community supports, advocacy, and equipment and technology.

"One of the information sessions will discuss the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and visitors will also be able to learn anything they need to know about WA NDIS at the Disability Services Commission booth."

The expo will be held at Crown Perth on September 8 and sessions will be held from 9.45am-1.30pm and from 4.30-7.30pm.

This year's expo is supported by the Disability Services Commission, Department of Education, Catholic Education, National Disability Insurance Agency, National Disability Coordination Officer Program and Activ.
