Artists needed for public art projects at Warren Health Service
As part of the redevelopment of the Warren Health Service in Manjimup, expressions of interest are being sought from artists experienced in delivering public art projects.
The artworks are commissioned under the State Government’s Percent for Art Scheme which employs Western Australian artists to deliver exciting artwork for major new public buildings including schools, police stations, and health services throughout Western Australia.
Art Coordinator Mariyon Slany, a consultant to the Department of Finance, Building Management and Works, said the commissions could be awarded to an individual artist, or a team of artists.  
“We welcome less experienced artists to be mentored by experienced artists and work together on the art projects,” Ms Slany said.
Ms Slany said the artwork commissions were for a range of public art opportunities around the health service including the front of the building or integrated within some of the architectural elements.
“Artists may want to make a connection to the Town of Manjimup, its timber history, beautiful environmental surrounds or the spiritual nature of connection with nature and its healing aspects for both mind and body,” Ms Slany said.
“Any interpretation is encouraged to be innovative, contemporary, and not overly representational,” she said.

The Warren Health Service redevelopment is funded by Royalties for Regions as part of the half a billion dollar Southern Inland Health Initiative.
The Southern Inland Health Initiative’s $300 million capital works program is more extensive and complex than any programme of works previously undertaken by the WA Country Health Service, with new builds and upgrades to 37 hospitals and health services in the Wheatbelt, South West, Great Southern and Midwest.
