Sport and Recreation Mia Davies today wished the 18 West Australians on the Australian Paralympic team competing in Rio the best of luck. "From all of us here in Western Australia, we send the whole team our very best wishes," Ms Davies said. "I was especially pleased to hear the men's wheelchair basketball captain - WA's Brad Ness - has been chosen as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony. "Brad is an inspiration to us all and a fantastic choice to lead the team into the Games. These will be his fifth and final Paralympics, and we will all be crossing our fingers that the team will return home with gold." The Minister said following last month's Olympic Games, the Paralympics were another chance to enjoy and be inspired by great sporting feats. The Western Australian contingent of the Rio Paralympic team include triathlete Brant Garvey, shooter Anton Zappelli, track athletes Brad Scott and Madison de Rozario entering their third Paralympics, alongside wheelchair basketballers Brad Ness, Shaun Norris and Adam Deans. About 4,350 athletes from more than 160 countries will compete in 528 medal events in 22 different sports at these Paralympic Games. Fact File
