  • Creation of a new land precinct near university, hospital in Murdoch
  • Stage One will bring commercial, retail and residential opportunities
A new land release in Murdoch is set to deliver up to 400 residences, 33,000 square metres of commercial office space and more than 80 short-stay apartments as part of an initiative to create a health and education sector in the community.

The Liberal National Government is calling on private developers, as well as organisations within the health and education sector, to register their interest in being part of the precinct adjacent to Murdoch University and the $2 billion Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Lands Minister Terry Redman said LandCorp was calling for Registrations of Interest (ROI) from companies interested in developing or occupying any of the seven lots to be released in Stage One.

"LandCorp is targeting medical research and associated commercial activities, consulting suites, clinics, community health and medical research facilities, education services and other complementary industries," Mr Redman said.

"The seven lots to be released as part of Stage One are expected to deliver 33,000sqm of commercial office space, up to 4,900sqm retail space, up to 400 residences and more than 80 short stay apartments."

The Minister said the precinct was a creative initiative and an ideal location for health and education providers to develop.

"The precinct is adjacent to the State Government's $2 billion Fiona Stanley hospital, St John of God hospital, Murdoch University, South Metropolitan TAFE and the Murdoch train and bus interchange," he said.

"Given its proximity to world-class hospitals and education institutions, the precinct will provide a dynamic, collaborative environment for research and development across both sectors.

"It will help accommodate Perth's growing population through the delivery of diverse housing choices connected to job opportunities and essential infrastructure."

Fact File
  • ROI for Stage One of the precinct close at 2pm on October 5, 2016
  • Stage one works expected to start late-2016
  • The ROI allows LandCorp to engage with the market, obtain feedback and determine the scale and timing of development
